House of Connection
“Those who build and sustain relationships across difference”
Relationships, coalition, care
No movement survives on strategy alone. Between the vision and the victory lies the most difficult terrain in social change: the human terrain. The House of Connection holds the people who navigate this terrain—who build the relationships that turn a collection of individuals and organizations into a coalition capable of sustained collective action.
This is not soft work. It is among the hardest work in any movement. The members of this house are the ones who sit in rooms full of people who distrust each other and find the common ground that allows them to act together. They are the ones who hold space for grief, for conflict, for healing, and for the slow, patient work of building trust across difference.
Is This Your House?
If you find yourself in the House of Connection, you are likely someone who reads rooms instinctively. You notice who is not speaking. You sense when a coalition partner is pulling away before they say anything. You are drawn to relationship, to the question of how people feel, and to the work of creating the conditions under which diverse groups can act with unity.
The Shadow Side
Connection without boundaries becomes self-destruction. People in this house are disproportionately vulnerable to burnout and compassion fatigue. They may avoid necessary conflict to preserve relationships, or sacrifice their own strategic convictions to maintain coalition harmony.
